Making memories and collecting them

Why it's important to make them while you can

Memories are invaluable. They can’t be bought by any price or any currency. In itself, it is it’s own currency.

When I was growing up, we never had a family outing. Not once. We just had movies together because you see, my dad was a chief of police in our town, and he does’nt have the time of day for such frivolous activities. For him he regards vacations, trips as expensive activities and we can’t have that in the family because we were struggling as it is.

Then when he passed away, we realized that we never had the chance to have a trip with him or I can never recall spending a vacation with him. And it’s sad, you know, if you were brought up that way. We never had those memories other families had. And I envied them.

That’s why whenever we have a chance for a family outing or bonding or whatever, we take them. We take them like there is no tomorrow because we don’t know if there will still be a tomorrow. It’s the NOW that is important. It’s in the present that we have to live to the fullest to.

And yes, I do believe memories are something that is a currency in itself and it’s the only intangible thing that’s left when you pass away from this earth. It’s only the memories that your kids will remember and which they will then pass on to the next generation.

So make them memories with your family may it be a trip, a cookfest, a movie marathon. Collect them. Cherish them. And then you can say to yourself that yes, you have lived.
